Maintenance and care of rack-mounted lithium batteries: How to extend their service life?

2025-05-27

Nowadays, rack-mounted lithium batteries are widely used, and everyone wants to make them last longer. Let's learn more about it.

1. Temperature control:

It is sensitive to temperature and is suitable for working at 15℃-35℃. High temperature will accelerate battery aging. For example, if there is no heat dissipation measure in a high-temperature computer room, the battery performance will decline easily; low temperature will reduce the activity, affect the charging and discharging efficiency, and even make it impossible to discharge. Therefore, it is necessary to ensure that there is a temperature control device in the use environment to keep the battery in a "comfort zone".

2. Charge and discharge control:

Avoid overcharging when charging, and stop when fully charged. Long-term overcharging will cause the battery to bulge. Although there is an automatic power-off function, you should also pay attention to it.

Avoid excessive discharge, and the power should not be less than 20%. Frequent deep discharge will greatly shorten the life. For example, the battery in the UPS system will have a reduced endurance when running at low power. Only by charging and discharging according to the standard can the state be maintained.

3. Regular inspection:

It is necessary to develop the habit of regularly measuring battery voltage, internal resistance and other parameters with professional instruments. It is more appropriate to do it once a quarter. If there is any abnormality, promptly check for causes such as poor contact or aging.

4. Installation and storage:

The installation must be firm. Because the battery is heavy, the bracket must be sturdy to prevent vibration and collision from damaging the internal structure.

When storing, charge to 50%-60% of the power if not used for a long time, and place in a dry, cool and ventilated place to prevent self-discharge loss and short circuit risks.

In short, maintenance needs to start from many aspects, and careful care can make the battery work stably and efficiently and provide reliable power.
